Generations United’s Election Outcome Statement
The election has brought many issues to the forefront that impact all ages. We continue to believe deeply in Generations United’s mission and the critical nature of our work. As we move forward, we remain steadfast in our commitment to building a better future for all generations and advocating for diverse, equitable, and connected communities. Our work remains focused on ensuring that the voices of younger people, older adults, and those living in kinship and grandfamilies, are heard, and they are supported in both policy and practice. We know that our communities and our country are stronger when all ages come together.
We invite our network to join us and continue advocating for the well-being of children, youth, and older adults. It will be imperative to stay informed about how the outcomes of this election may impact federal, state, and local policies and the services available in communities across the country. It is all our responsibility to hold elected officials accountable and to ensure that the voices of every generation are represented in the decisions that shape our future. It is also essential to prioritize self-care. Take time to process, connect with others, and recharge so that we can all move forward together.
At Generations United, we are committed to working with policymakers to make sure all ages and families — no matter their structure — receive the support and resources needed to thrive. In the New Year, we will be sharing a transition memo with the new administration and looking for opportunities to promote our priorities and policy agenda to the incoming 119th Congress.
We look forward to continuing to work together toward a brighter tomorrow for all generations.
